Workshops with music legends

Brass and Composition Workshops with Music Legends Article

10 Feb 2016

91黑料不打烊 hosted two incredible Australian music legends this week, welcoming both Mr Paul Goodchild (Associate Principal Trumpet player for the SSO) and Mr Alan Holley (Australian composer, performer and teacher).

Two workshops were run in the Independent Theatre, one for our brass players and the other for our composition students. Congratulations to Adelaide Robertson (Year 8 trumpet), Anna Riley (Year 7 trumpet) and Sophie Potter (Year 7 euphonium) who were chosen to play for Mr Goodchild as part of the masterclass. These girls were given the opportunity to perform and learn from the wealth of experience that Mr Goodchild brings from his extensive career. The composition students worked with Mr Holley who was able to develop Tilly Webb’s (Year 12 Music Extension student) HSC composition ideas and give an insight into the composition process.
