Award-winning quilt designer Sarah Fielke assisted girls in Years 8 to 11 with art patchwork, appliqué and quilt design in a series of extra-curricular Creative Arts workshops.

Sarah showed the girls a number of technical and mathematical processes that would better their patchwork, including precise stitching and spatial intelligence. The girls loved working with her and had produced their own sampler cushions by the end of the workshop series.

TAS assistant Miss Lily Ferres said she was nervous that blinded by stereotypes associated with the art form, not many would take the course. But she was thrilled to learn the workshop was booked out, and "even more thrilled to see the joy and enthusiasm when I joined," she said.
