'Standing Tall' to make positive life choices

02 Jun 2016

stand tall event

Year 9 students attended 'Stand Tall', an annual event that motivates young Australians to make positive life choices. The event inspires young people to 'stand tall' against negative pressures, with the vision to "show Gen Z a future and a hope".

The fifth 'Stand Tall' event featured a range of guest speakers who addressed critical issues confronting today's high school students. Speakers included:

  • Tony Hoang, Leading Anti-Drugs Youth Communicator who spoke on the topic of drugs
  • Derek Rabelo, Blind Brazilian Big Wave Surfer who spoke about disability and courage
  • Emma Birdsall, semi-finalist of 'The Voice' who spoke about persistence.

Among the 30 91黑料不打烊 students who attended, Charlotte Collier and Molly Dickson said they were fortunate to have the chance to listen and be inspired. "The stories from each of the speakers were enlightening and encouraging and touched us all in different ways, but the message was the same; stand tall, be confident and proud of yourself" said Charlotte.
