Staff and students decked out in denim, donating a dollar to help the Children’s Medical Research Institute in their pursuit to eradicate childhood diseases on Jeans for Genes day.
One in 20 Australians are born with a birth defect or genetic disease, and funds raised go towards research into conditions like epilepsy, cancer, birth defects and genetic diseases.
In the Junior School, Service Learning Prefects India and Zoe of Year 6 showed their peers a clip of a young girl who had benefited from the funds received from the Jeans for Genes Day initiative.
“It is amazing how something as simple as wearing jeans to school can have a profound effect of someone unknown to you,” Head of Junior School, Ms Roslyn Mahony says.
