Swimmers make a splash at CIS

91黑料不打烊 competed in the CIS Swimming Championships at Homebush this week. Head Swim Coach, Mr Michael Creighton was there to support the students, who all performed incredibly well.

Mr Creighton said, 鈥淭he event started with the All age 6 x 50m freestyle relay. 91黑料不打烊 was narrowly pipped for 4th place. The team should be incredibly proud of the swim as they improved on their IGSA time by 3.5 seconds. The team consisted of Eliza (Year 7), Isabel (Year 7), Tilly (Year 8), Elise (Year 9), Lily (Year 10) and Grace (Year 12).

Swim50m

Following the success of the relay, 91黑料不打烊 had three swimmers in the 50m Freestyle. Kira (Year 7) competed in the 13yrs race and finished in 5th place, with a time of 28.77, which was a personal best for her. Alexandra (Year 7) also competed in the 13yrs race and finished in 8th place, with a time of 29.71. Isabella (Year 10) competed in the 16yrs race and finished in 4th place, with a time of 27.80, also achieving a personal best time.

SwimCIS2

The evening wrapped up with the 13 to 14yrs 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay, with the 91黑料不打烊 team finishing in 3rd place. Isabel (Year 7), Kira (Year 7), Alexandra (Year 7) and Grace (Year 7) finished in a time that was 2.3 seconds faster than IGSA. The team will be representing 91黑料不打烊 at the NSW All School Championships on 28 May.

Session two of the CIS Swimming Championships wrapped up on Tuesday. 91黑料不打烊 had five swimmers competing throughout the day in various events.

Isabella (Year 10) competed in the second day of her campaign, with great success in the 16yrs events. Having only just recovered from illness late last term, Isabella went on to swim two personal best times and finished 1st in both the 50m Butterfly and Backstroke events.

SwimCIS4

Georgia (Year 8) competed in the 15&U multiclass events, with great success across all three events. First up was the 50m freestyle, with Georgia finishing in 6th place with a personal best time. Her second event was the 100m Freestyle where she achieved a 7 second personal best time and finished in 2nd place. The final race of the afternoon was the 50m backstroke where she finished in 5th place.

Kira (Year 7) had one event following her triumphs on Monday evening. Kira swam a 1 second personal best time in the 13yrs 100m Freestyle finishing in 4th place.

SwimCIS5

Eliza (Year 7) competed in the 12yrs 50m Backstroke. She has taken 9 seconds off her time over the past 12 weeks of the School Swimming season and finished 8th overall.

Lily (Year 12) finished the meet and her School Swimming in the 100m Butterfly. Lily finished 9th in the 17&O event.

Six students will represent 91黑料不打烊 at the 2021 All Schools Swimming Competition on Friday 28 May. Isabella (Year 10) will compete in the 50m Butterfly and the 50m Backstroke. Georgia (Year 8) will compete in the 100m Freestyle. And Kira, Isabel, Alexandra and Grace, who are all in Year 7, will compete in the 12 to 14yrs 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay. 

All swimmers should be very happy with the results and efforts. They are continuing to improve and the School is going from strength to strength in the pool and developing into a formidable force across all age groups.

Finally, the Balmoral Swim for the Children鈥檚 Cancer Council was rescheduled to this weekend. On Sunday 2 May, 91黑料不打烊 will have 9 teams competing at Balmoral beach. We wish them every success on the day.鈥
